Xmas Surprise - Egosoft Announces New X3 Game

- X3: Albion Prelude released 15 December
- Bridging the gap between X3:Terran Conflict and the upcoming X:Rebirth

Egosoft is pleased to announce X3: Albion Prelude, which provides a welcome bridge from the X Universe we know and love to the X Universe that will be experienced in X Rebirth. This new adventure will also feature more than 30 new ships and stations. A new Stock Exchange feature will enable players to speculate in local markets in a bid to increase their wealth. With this will also come tools to monitor and analyse economic developments and progress. Users with high-end machines will also benefit from some improved graphical quality settings. It is important to note that X3: Albion Prelude will NOT feature savegame compatibility with X3: Terran Conflict.

For owners of the X Superbox, X3: Albion Prelude will be available as a free download on Steam, while for owners of X3: Terran Conflict it will be available at the 'add-on' price of €9.99. For players new to the series, X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude will be available for purchase as a bundle. Time your purchase right and you could enjoy substantial discounts in the Steam holiday sale too!

1th April - Squiddy Goes to the Movies!

Today Toastie from the Egosoft Forum announced:

In an astonishing development for the EGOSOFT Community, we are proud and pleased to announce that the story of Squiddy McSquid is set to make it to the silver screen in a movie called Nautilus. It's been strictly under wraps for a while now, but with the blessings of the production company, we are now able to break cover and make this phenomenal announcement!

In early 2010 EGOSOFT and NUKLEAR-SLUG, the author of the Squiddy McSquid Dead-is-Dead story, were contacted to seek permission to use the exploits of Squiddy McSquid as the basis of an animated sci-fi adventure movie.

When asked his reaction to the production company's approach NUKLEAR-SLUG stated, "I couldn't believe it! I had actually sent the PDF version of the story to a couple of mates to show them what I had been up to. One of their dads happens to work for a film production company and showed it to him. Not even a week later I got an email from the production team asking for a meeting to discuss a project!"

EGOSOFT Managing Director, Bernd Lehahn, said of the development, "It was clearly a big surprise for all of us here. It's particularly pleasing that one of our games will be the focus of the movie's action scenes. The production company is keen to use X3: Terran Conflict's game engine and many of the models as a basis for the action scenes. We will be working closely with them to ensure the best results." Asked further about the impact of this development on the company, Bernd added, "This couldn't come at a better time for us. As we move closer to unveiling our next major project, the publicity that this will attract will do a great deal to increase the profile of that project and all of the X series in general."

While all here at EGOSOFT are determined not to allow this to distract them from the production of TNBT, there is a justified feeling of pride that the X-Universe and one player's gaming adventures will receive such wide publicity.
