When captured the ship will have a neutral status of grey, when you have claimed it, that status will change to green, as it is then your property.
To claim a captured ship, park your current ship within 30 m of the ship to be claimed, eject with the [ Shift+E ] keys or the quick menu and select Eject.
Then target the ship to be claimed with the [ T ] key and bring up the quick menu selecting Target, Claim. When done you will then get a message “Ship computer control has been transferred”, turn and target your own ship press [ Shift+E ], to renter your own ship.
If you have the S.O.S (System Override Software you can claim the ship without having to eject from your ship. It is illegal to have the S.O.S on your ship, as claiming ships that are not your property is illegal and using a computer virus to give you that ownership, is even more illegal.
